NFL Week 7 2011: New Orleans Saints v Indianapolis Colts

Sundays clash between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, pits two teams and quarterbacks that are at very different ends of the rankings. Most Offshore Sportsbooks have the Saints at -1000 (1.1) and the Colts at +760 (8.6) on the NFL money line odds. It was only two years ago that these two teams met in the Super Bowl, how things have changed!

In quarterback stats we have the New Orleans offense led by Drew Brees who is currently ranked #2 in the league for average yards per game with 358.7 yards. He has made 180 completions and thrown 13 touchdowns so far this season. By comparison the Indianapolis Colts who were forced to replace the injured Peyton Manning, have Kerry Collins at quarterback who is ranked last in the league, with an average of 160.3 yards per game, 48 completions and only 2 touchdowns.

Straight up this season the Saints are 4-2 with wins over the Bears (30-13), Texans (40-33), Jaguars (23-10) and Panthers (30-27) while their two losses were against the Packers (34-42) and the Buccaneers (20-26). Against the closing point spread the Saints are 3-3 and likewise they are 3-3 in over/under betting.

Indianapolis are looking for their first win, surely going on the road visiting the Saints isn't the best of places to be looking. The Colts are 0-6 straight up, 2-4 against the spread and here is an interesting stat, they are 5-1 in NFL over under betting with their last 5 games all going over the closing number. The Colts losses have been to the Texans (7-34), Browns (19-27), Steelers (20-23), Buccaneers (17-24), Chiefs (24-28) and Bengals (17-27).

Scoring points hasn’t been too much trouble for the Saints thus far with an average of 29.5 points per game on offense while their defense has been allowing an average of 25.17, for a positive points differential of (+4.33). The Colts on the other hand have averaged 17.33 points per game and allowed 27.17 for a negative differential of (-9.84) points per game.

The Latest NFL Point Spreads for this game see the Saints at (-13.5) after opening at (-14). The over under total is currently at 47.5 which is where it opened. With that spread and total, linesmakers are predicting the Saints to score approximately 30.5 points to the Colts 17.

The verdict - agrees that around 47.5 is where the total should be however our numbers show value in the point spread and we are happy to take the Saints (-13.5) at home.
